"A white woman called police on black people barbecuing. This is how the community responded"ByBefore we get into the gist of this article, I must say that I love how the mainstream media (CNN, MSNBC, GMA, HuffPost, Yahoo, CBS News, etc) put together the titles to articles written. Much of the time the title does not even reflect the actuality of the article itself. In many cases, the article`s title is as far away from what the actual article happens to be about or say as the Challenger Deep`s sea floor is from the ocean`s surface. So, let us take a look at the writing. I believe the entire premise of the article can be summed up with one statement: Just whom was obeying the law and just whom was not obeying the law. `It all started on April 29, when a white woman reportedly called police on a few black people who, she said, were using a charcoal grill in an area where it was banned, according to CNN affiliate KRON.` Well, the blacks were certainly charcoal grilling in an area where the use of charcoal for grilling is most assuredly forbidden by public law. Again let us ask the question, just whom was obeying the law and just whom was not obeying the law? Was the white woman in the wrong? According to the law of Oakland, California, the white woman was not wrong. Were the initial BBQing black people in the wrong? Yes, according to the law of Oakland, California. Why was this law written? I really have no idea. However, a person has to surmise such a law was written to support what`s best for the public interest. Let us take into consideration the issue of citizen involvement. Does law enforcement want the help of the citizen? Of course law enforcement does. For the citizen to stop and render aid at the scene of an accident happens to be the truest spirit of people and law enforcement working hand in hand for the betterment of the public. One more example might be the neighborhood watch groups showing citizens and law enforcement working together to prevent crime. I think it is safe to say, law enforcement agencies` rely on individual citizens to help policing organizations` enforce the laws that are written. As to the charcoal grilling where said grilling is not allowed, hence, when the police arrived, the individuals could have relocated to the appropriate area and went on with the living of life. Alas, not in this case. `The event, dubbed ‘BBQing While Black,` was one community`s powerful response to what many perceived as yet another example of everyday racism.` Thus, it is now `everyday racism` for someone to call the police on individuals` breaking the law? "It was disgusting and infuriating. Also, very offensive," Jhamel Robinson, a graphic designer who helped organize the "BBQing While Black" event, told CNN. "But the video also inspired us to take action to show the togetherness in our community." Then, it is disgusting and infuriating and offensive for blacks to have to obey the law? Is that what Mr. Robinson is saying? And some video has inspired the blacks of Oakland, California to come together as a community to support blacks breaking the law? People, in regard to this complete state of affairs, this is exactly what Mr. Robinson, a "BBQing While Black" event organizer is saying, blacks do not have to obey the law: To read the above referenced CNN article written by Gianluca Mezzofiore (and God only knows where he, she, it happens to be from), this is exactly the general idea of the writing: Blacks do not have to obey the law. `Prominent activist Angela Davis even came, he [sic] said. ‘It was a day of love and unity."` This is truly a kind and affectionate statement coming from Ms. Davis. One should research (aka, Google) political activist Ms. Angela Davis: former member of the communist party; associated with the Black Panther Party; associated with Jim Jones and his Jonestown and Peoples Temple and on and on and on. As always, we should never ever forget that diversity is our strength. Note: I will communicate information to my reader through the website category of `General Information.` |
