(Discussion Number 5)

Okay, people, Tuesday/May 29, 2018 has passed and the Starbucks` sensitivity, display production of `racial bias education day` has come and gone. Yes, Starbucks, once again, has opened its doors to the general public. With May 29th in the rear-view mirror, Starbucks` president and CEO Kevin Johnson, invites one and all to enjoy his diversity enhanced, expensive Mocha Java and high-priced pastry. I say let individuals take up Mr. Johnson`s invitation and head to a local Starbucks. Yes, I think it is time to go to Starbucks and sit; by all means, find a seat and sit and sit and sit.

As to a Starbucks` extravaganza, let us begin by having four white individuals/European Americans show up at Starbucks very early in the morning to spend and stay that entire morning waiting for a friend. These four individuals are Bill, Don, Jim, and Larry. I would heartily recommend that our four lads, by all means, pick a good comfortable booth or table. If possible, try to locate a booth or table close to Mr. Gernney the very liberal Geek or Ms. Naneye the progressive Nerd.

Now, do our four white customers` order anything from the Starbucks` menu? Well, of course they don`t. After all, they will all order when their long lost friend arrives with job opportunities for them. Our four Starbucks` white patrons` simply sit and wait and sit and wait and sit and wait for their, hopefully, soon to arrive fifth guest. And always, but always, remember what Starbucks` president and CEO Kevin Johnson has said, "Starbucks was built as a company that creates a warm, welcoming environment for all customers." In fact, I would suggest, it might be well to memorize this statement by Mr. Johnson.

At this moment, I know exactly what a reader happens to be thinking, `Wow, Doug, an entire morning is a long time to sit and do nothing? Do you think one could engage in some activity to pass the time of day?` Why of course I do. Just look at Gernney the liberal Geek and Nanney the communist progressive Nerd. They both have their little laptop and notebook computers and paper and pencil and they are engaged in an activity as they slurp down Starbucks` expensive swill. The keyword here is `activity.` I would think it would be quite appropriate and acceptable to engage in an activity as long as said activity is quiet and not disturbing anyone. So, my suggestion would be, how about some card game or the board game Scramble or maybe Clue? Are not these activities? Why, sure they are. Anyway, I think a person gets the general idea. The main issue here is, but of course, to be quiet and disturb nary a progressive `Cultural Marxist` communist soul (soul???-only a little play upon word usage).

I believe at this time, from a reader, there is another question coming my way. `Gosh, I am thirsty. We have been sitting here for over two hours waiting for another acquaintance, what about something to drink?` Good question. I think it would be perfectly acceptable to have a small bottle of water with you. Yes, a small bottle of water would be fine. Water is good.

My friends, by this time, I do believe Bill, Don, Jim, and Larry are attracting attention. Meelessa the Starbucks` manager, and her counter employees, has noticed four white people at a table. These four white people have not ordered and they are just sitting and sitting and sitting and sitting. They are taking up a valuable table for paying customers. Meelessa the manager is in a bit of a quandary. Yes, she has been trained to smile at the minority and give the minority anything which he or she or it desires, but, alas, these are whites/European Americans. She has been trained to deal with the minority, but what now? Our ol` avuncular Mr. Kevy has said, "Starbucks was built as a company that creates a warm, welcoming environment for all customers." Meelessa continues to think, `Hummmm, what do I do at this point?`

Clearly, we all knew it would happen, sooner or later, and such has come into reality. Don and Jim suddenly realize that they have to use the restroom. Bill and Larry are close to a choice, but through the strength of will, nevertheless, do not go to the restroom as of yet or leave the table unoccupied. Oh no, never, never, ever leave that Starbucks` table unoccupied. One other small issue which bears mentioning, Bill, Don, Jim, and Larry are beginning to attract the attention of customers such as Gernney the Geek and Nanney the Nerd and certain people waiting for a table to become available. Do Bill, Don, Jim, and Larry let stares and glares bother them? Not really. After all, they are waiting for a friend to join them before they order.

After a moment, Don and Jim approach the counter and ask to use the restroom. Halfheartedly, giving out the precious bathroom code, Meelessa the manager reassures herself with a quote worth remembering, "Starbucks was built as a company that creates a warm, welcoming environment for all customers."

After awhile, Don and Jim rejoin Bill and Larry at the table, but there is an issue. Suddenly, Bill needs to use the restroom. And so he does. As Bill returns, at this instant, Larry approaches the counter. This type of action continues on and on and on and on as four white individuals` continue to occupy that one valuable table and engage in an activity. The restroom is in use time and time and time again. While the restroom code is dear to all and grudgingly given out, bear in mind, water is good.

Gernney the liberal Geek, a Starbucks` regular, is mad. Donning orange short pants, with green lettering which conveys the message of `Build Bridges not Walls,` and sporting cultural turquoise dyed leather strapped, thin soled, white faux fur, sandals, Gernney the Geek cannot get into the restroom. Regrettably, the door seems to be not only always locked but locked for some time. Remember, my friends, water is good. Once again, Gernney the Geek has come to the sad realization that the Starbucks` restroom is, uncomfortably, always locked; he has complained to Meelessa the manager to no avail. Suddenly, and most unfortunately, problems have occurred. Gernney the Geek simply cannot hold this Starbucks` swill any longer: The sandals are soaked; the white faux fur does not even closely resemble white; and the turquoise dyed leather straps show to be of an odd stained color of sorts. In short, not only are the sandals ruined, the colorful shorts with such a heartfelt message are soaked. One must understand that Gernney the Geek takes many vitamins to stay healthy so he can continue to be very, very, liberal.

Saying that all occurring situations have given us a `reprehensible outcome,` is an understatement. Meelessa the manager has apologized to Gernney the Geek several times. Meelessa the manager has offered her sympathy with Gerrney having none of it. Close to storming out of the Starbucks exit where CEO Mr. Kevin Johnson invites one and all to enjoy a place, which, frankly, "…was built as a company that creates a warm, welcoming environment for all customers," Gerrney hand signals Meelessa that he still thinks she is number one as he squishes out the door.

Somewhat perplexed with all which has occurred, Meelessa the manager is not about to clean Gernney the Geek`s mess up and orders an underling employee with mop and bucket and towel to correct the situation. As all this is taking place, Bill approaches the counter, yet again, and asks for that prized restroom code.

In any case, I earnestly believe anyone should be able to enjoy his or her expensive, costly, and high-status chic time at Starbucks, hassle free, where, "Starbucks was built as a company that creates a warm, welcoming environment for all customers." And, I would hope that Bill, Don, Jim, and Larry continue to go to Starbucks regularly and wait for their illusive friend to show up and join them.

To the white Starbucks` manager who was forced into quitting/ required to resign for following company policy, I would say that within the aura of life some of the worst disappointments occurring at the time turn out to be some of the most wonderful blessings in the future.

Accordingly, as time allows from 6 AM to 8 PM, what matters is to go to a local Starbucks and sit and sit and sit, just sit.

Lastly, one minor item to add with regard to Starbucks` Executive Chairman Howard Schultz: Sir, with the way your tribe of people treat the Palestinians, you really have the unmitigated gall and audacity to accuse some former Starbucks` white/European American manager of `unconscious racial bias` or `racial profiling.` Remember, Mr. Schultz, the white manager, you so negatively speak of, was simply following Starbucks` store policy. You have used this white manager as your Starbucks` scapegoat.
